One sim to burn them all

Ah, The Sims. Why bother about stuff happening in my life, when I can bother about stuff happening in my sim’s life?

Aster had an interesting first day after moving to his new house, but things got a nasty turn the following days.

Aster’s day actually started pretty well. I, on the other hand, was panicking because I couldn’t find his workplace in the map. It turns out that instead of getting into the car an hour before their shift starts, they just get up and go as soon as the it starts and they get there by themselves.

After his shift was done, Aster needed to have some fun. He went to the park where he started a short conversation with a little girl and attempted to practice his guitar skills. He ended up embarrassing himself again, though, so he went back home.

Stranger danger!the girl, Antoinette, decided to stay at my own house to watch TV, which was a big no no. I mean, they just talked for a few minutes and Aster didn’t think her parents would appreciate her being in a stranger’s house. Aster gently asked her to leave, which she did.

Tutorial mode gave Aster a book to teach him about inventory. Entertainment! The book seemed to be too good to be put down.

Determined to not finish the day without trying to make some grown up friends, Aster ran out to speak with walking neighbors, like Keagan, Nancy and Ruben.

And while he is still trying to settle down in his now house, Aster thought it wouldn’t be a bad idea to look for that special someone. He invited Bret Barger in to get to know him. It turns out he is actually married. It also turned out the girl Aster stopped to talk and later his house is Brent’s daughter. It seems that the desire to stay in other people’s houses is runs strong in their veins. Aster and Brent chatted for a good while, but Brent decided to stay up until 1:00 am. Aster was long asleep by then.

Aster actually went to sleep early enough, so we was up by 5:30 am, ready to cook a nice breakfast and try to release some accumulated tension from work last night. Some toast and eggs would be great. Aster didn’t have a toaster so he decided to toast it in the stove. His cooking that morning was too clumsy, but what can go wrong toasting some bread?

THATS what can go wrong. Aster set the kitchen and himself on fire, and he actually need to use the fire extinguisher on himself. It seems Aster will need to take another shower that morning.

Showering removed some of tension, but Aster was still tense and hungry. He spent more money than what he earned in his new job. But Aster won’t give up on cooking, oh no! He decided to make some scrambbled eggs. He murdered those eggs as he violently scrambled them. The food was good but the tension was still too high.

After work, Aster was still tense and angry, so he put some music to dance to it. After all, he is a music lover. While his body was into it, his face let you know that he was ready to murder someone.

It wasn’t until he stopped dancing and started just listening deeply to the music that he managed to calm down.

Just before he started making fish tacos, Brent Barger called Aster to see if he could drop by. Second night in a row, Brent? Aster decided to make more food in case he hasn’t eaten. They just talked for hours in the kitchen and then listened to some music before Brent went back home.

While the day started horrible, Aster was feeling in a good mood when he went to sleep.

Will Aster burn something else in the house? Will he actually survive a week? Is Brent having martial problems and is hiding from his wife in Aster’s house?

One sim is not enough

A while ago, I decided to give The Sims a try. I’ve heard a lot about it, and I just knew it would be the type of game that would hook me right away (And that’s one of the reasons I never played it before.)

My experience with The Sims 3 was very limited, however, because of some issues I had where the game would crash constantly on me, throwing away a good chunk of my sims’ lives away.

After the release of Sims 4, I have been debating when to get it, and when the price was slashed by 50% during Black Friday, I decided it was time.

Starting up

As custom, one of the characters (or names) I use or create in nearly every game is Aster Guarionex.

I tried basing Aster the Sim on a bit of every other Aster I have ever made. The first Aster was an elven bard that liked to dance was nearly naked. The second Aster, from Guild Wars 2, is a human guardian, that happens to be nearly naked too. And the third Aster, from Final Fantasy XIV was an even more naked monk.

I brought the musician from original Aster and picked the Muser reward trait, and music lover for one of his persoality traits. Being a buff guardian and a fit monk in other lives, I also chose the active personality trait. Being a bard and a guardian, Aster has been mostly about helping other people, so his third personality trait is outgoing. And thus, Aster Guarionex became a Sim. As you can see, he’s not nearly naked!

Maybe I just missed that option, but I didn’t find a pre-created house ready to move in, so Aster just bought an empty lot and built his house from scratch. Well, nearly. There were some pre-made rooms he used. After playing architect and interior decorator for a while, this monster was born.

He was so busy trying to make sure everything inside made sense that he didn’t notice how… unusual the house looked from outside. But hey! It can only improve at this point, no?

And the house isn’t even that great from the inside. It has a living room with a couch, penguin TV and of course, a radio. Then there’s the necessary kitchen, bathroom and bed room. To provide an outlet for his athletic side, there’s a punching bag just behind the sofa.

Tutorial mode made Aster instantly smelly just to show him what is a negative mood, so Aster had to take a shower right away.

After the shower, he decided to do a bit of training… and it was sad. The first day of training is usually a hard one, so I guess everything is good.

Aster was so excited when he watched people outside, he decided to go out and make some friends. He forgot to change his exercise clothes. (I assure I had nothing to do with this! He decided to stay shirtless by himself! Aster first potential friend is Brent Barger, a genius that loves outdoors. Aster is not too bright himself, but they seemed to get along well while they talked.

In an attempt to broaden his circle of friends, he approached Julia Grubb, a childish loner who is also a slob (I’m going by personality traits here!) That must explain why she just left her uneaten lunch at the picnic table. Aster started feeling a need to use the restroom, so he decided to run home, which happens to be near the park.

After a quick restroom break and a change of clothes, Aster remember tutorial made him cook and his perfectly crafted grilled cheese sandwich was still on the table. Aster considered he could be a male model grill cheese sandwich before brushing off that crazy idea and gobbling down his lunch.

I forgot to take pics during this time, but Aster grabbed his guitar to do some practice at the park. He quickly got embarrassed since he was playing badly. Feeling the need to talk about his insecurities to a random stranger, he sat down next to Vasyl Standforf, who also happened to be of the creative type.

The talk lasted quite a bit of time and Aster decided it was time to call it a day. After all, he got a job as an Amateur entertainer and started next day.

Will this be an ongoing series? I don’t know. Maybe? I still need to complete Guild Wars 2’s Project 365, but this one wouldn’t require me to try to post daily. Let’s just see where this goes…

Month of Sims 3: new house!

The beginning of a legacy

Leonardo Jimenez just moved to the lovely town of Macondo. He is a brave, family oriented, handy, computer whiz and friendly guy who wishes to master the logic and handiness skills. He firmly believes his family is destined for greatness, but first he needs a house. With less than 1,500 simoleons, Leo built a tiny house with nothing but a door and a window.

First thing firt, he needed a job. He found out getting a job was a simple as being willing to work, and he found an available position as a snitch in the police department. It would be a matter of hours before he’ll start earning some cash to buy trivial things like a bed, a toilet or a fridge.

Leo spent his first day in town at the gym. It had everything he needed: shower, toilets and a fridge. Not forgetting his dream of being the founder of the greatest family Macondo has ever seen, he began to talk to ladies at the gym. He made a really good friend that turned out to be married. Tomorrow will be a good day to continue.

After a couple of sandwiches and many naps in a gym chair, Leo woke up early to go back home and wait for his ride to work, where he met his boss Lieutenant Hank Goddard and partner Blair Wainwright. After getting out of work, he decided to reduce the size of his house so he could afford a bed, and at least a sink where he could brush his teeth. He wasn’t going to spend another night at a gym chair!

As he appreciated his smaller, but better equipped house, he got a call from partner Blair: beach wear party time! Upon arriving at her house, I found out Blair was filthy rich. There were a couple of minor celebrities who weren’t the least bit impressed with poor Leo, but all his attention fell on Ayesha Ansari. He quickly found out she was Pisces and single. Maybe she’ll be the one! It was too late already so Leo went back to his humble residence, taking a mental note of calling Ayesha the next day.

Month of Sims 2: Leonardo Jimenez

Now I remember why I stopped playing The Sims.  My game crashes whenever I am online. And I forget to save often. Since this sudden crashes kill my desire to redo whatever it is I did, I decided to do The Sims 3 Legacy Challenge. This fella is Leonardo Jimenez, and these are all his belongings.  He’s just your average brave, family oriented, handy, computer whiz and friendly guy who wishes to master the logic and handiness skills. But at the moment he has bigger worries to tackle immediately, like building a house.

Month of Sims 1: Guarionex household

Similar to #GW2Project365, #MonthofSims focuses on a picture a day during this month. Seeing as I got The Sims 3 recently, but have been distracted by Scarlet Briar and her schemes in Guild Wars 2, I decided to take this opportunity to see if I can back to it. While trying to figure things out, I made 2 different household, each with a different couple. Anyway, here’s pic #1

This is the Guarionex household. Aster is a musician who loves parties and is a bit of a child at heart.  Kiram is a nature loving, friendly guy who decided to follow a medical career. They moved together to Lionport, a Late Night Town, looking for some excitement.  Not long after arriving at the new town, they moved to a High Rise building, where they partied and became celebrities on their own right. After getting engaged and having a private wedding, they moved back to their old house, using their savings to upgrade the lot to have an extra room so their newly adopted kid can have his own room.

Their  journey to parenthood just began and Kiram got promoted to Trauma Surgeon. He’ll be spending a lot less time at home. Will they be able to raise young Ulrich into a decent Sim?
